Carried by Community

Community support helped lighten the load and made the path ahead feel manageable.

People who made support feel accessible

There was a season when moving forward felt heavier than it should have. I was doing my best, but I did not yet have the support or resources to fully stand on my own.

A local community center became a place I could rely on. They offered structure, guidance, and access to resources that made everyday challenges more manageable. Knowing there was somewhere to go and people willing to help changed how I approached what came next.

That support did not solve everything, but it created stability when I needed it most. It allowed me to focus on growth instead of constantly reacting to what was missing.

I think about that often. Community support is not about doing the work for someone. It is about making sure they do not have to start from nothing. Because of that support, my race felt possible to continue, and it reminded me of the role communities play in creating one less lap for others.
